Slick Willy

Wow! Last night's speech by Bill Clinton at the DNC was very convincing. When he was done, I felt compelled to vote with the liberals.... Not really, but he gave a very passionate speech and he did a great job manipulating the data to give undue credit to Obama's first three and a half years in office. Clinton touted Obama's  liberal accomplishments as successes so well, that many who were on the fence jumped enthusiastically to the left. Oh, help us!

What a bunch of blind sheep these liberal voters are. Have they forgotten that the man that so passionately swooned them last night brought public shame and reproach to the sacred office of the Presidency. Was it not Bill Clinton who perjured himself as President, lying to the public about his Oval Office misconduct with a one Monica Lewisnsky?  Clinton has a lying reputation! And he's the guy who's message was embraced last night!? If he lied to you while he was President, don't you think he would lie to you when he is not? How can a man of Clinton's character be chosen by his party as the Democratic standard bearer? I guess that decision speaks a great volume of the party and it's loyal voters. Great speach...but no credibility.

Some things about Clinton's speech that was a farce:
1.  "Obama inherited this economic mess." Well, he did. He inherited it from the Democratic-controlled Congress which took office in 2007 (of which he was a part). Obama himself voted for the out-of-control spending budgets of 2007-present. Before this, there were 4 straight years of reduced deficit spending under the Bush administration.
2. "Obamacare is already helping people." Really, last I checked, the policies of the Affordable Health Care Act don't even take effect until 2014. Writers of the law set this date to benefit the President, because when it does start to burden the healthcare system and the average American, his job would be safe -- assuming his re-election.
3. "'So here's another job score. President Obama: plus 4.5 million, congressional Republicans: zero."
In January 2010, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported 106.8 million Americans in paid jobs. In July of this year, the figure came in at 111.3 million. That's a gain of 4.5 million. The problem: President Obama was sworn in to office in January 2009. On his first day in office, the private payroll count stood at 111 million. So if Obama is to take full responsibility for all his time in office, his administration has only created a net of 300,000 jobs.(ABCnews.com -- fact check).

Bottom line... Again you have a politician who is "pouring honey" into the ears of his followers. During this campaign season, we are seeing all our candidates seek approval for their own agendas. What we need are statesmen not politicians. We need people who seek to promote the people they serve rather than themselves. Someone who looks out for the people rights and the protection of our Constitution.

So, Bill Clinton... nice try.

Crossing the Line.... The Sin of Androgyny

Puke, Vomit, Hurl. These are the best words I can bring up (pun intended) to describe my disgust for cultural androgyny – the societal blurring of the gender lines. We live in a culture where masculinity is criticized for its rough exterior and insensitivity, and feminism is elevated as the preferred trait among men. To succumb to this idea, it is now acceptable for parents buy their son girls’ jeans and allow him to grow his hair out long enough to make Rapunzel jealous. This same culture that belittles masculinity in men, promotes it for women. Our daughters are told that there are no barriers or rules for dress. Anything goes, even if that means looking the part of their male counterparts. Society warns that it would be an epic failure to ask individuals to don a gender-appropriate hairstyle or wear gender-appropriate attire because “you may damage their psyche” and you might “limit their opportunity to express individuality.” In the 1970s, Sandra Bem – the inventor of t...

Enabling Parent: Confront yourself, not your child's teacher

Have you ever wrongly blamed someone for something you didn't know you did? I think we've all been there. It's not a pleasant situation to find yourself in for sure, because crow tastes awful. I remember once blaming a college roommate for throwing away a midterm paper I had spent hours writing. I became flustered and angry and said some regrettable things to him. After rewriting my assignment, I headed to the printing lab, where I had left my first report lying at the printing table. Open mouth, insert crow. Fastforward 18 years. I am now an educator, and our school just finished up our first-quarter Parent-Teacher Conference. I dread the Parent-Teacher Conference. My fellow teachers also dread them. Why?  In one word.... Parents.  Today's parents (for the most part) are enablers. The enabling trend has worsened over the years with the ever-increasing influence of technology and the digital age (the connection is worthy of its own blog). Over the last 15...

Avoiding Factions in Fundamentalism

Factions within fundamental Christianity are ungodly and unattractive. The factions are, for example, those that usually are birthed from education. Specifically, from what I have seen, it pins one school or church doctrine against another. (I know some will be offended by me naming names, but deep down, the following examples are well-known to those who are named) Graduates from Pensacola Christian College are looked poorly upon by Bob Jones graduates, Hyles-Anderson grads and many others (and vice versa). There exists a "rivalry" between Fairhaven folk and the people of First Baptist of Hammond, IN. "Westcoasters" are labeled compromisers by those who consider themselves more conservative. Those who attend Crown College - "Crownies" as they have been deemed - are seen by other fundamentalists as Sextonites . The list goes on and on and includes schools and churches from all around the country. Even smaller local churches try to take on the attribute...
